YEREVAN ARARAT BRANDY-WINE-VODKA FACTORY is situated in one of the most picturesque places of Yerevan, in Hrazdan Gorge, on the territory of the former Erivan fortress. In 591 the Erivan fortress was built by the order of Sasanian King Khosrov Aparvez by the famous Armenian masters of that time. In subsequent centuries the Erivan fortress was reconstructed and fortified many times by muslim khans particularly during the period when the part of Armenia was under the Persian yoke. It occupied the most part of the city where various shops, mosques and the mint were located and used to be a cultural and domestic centre.
